It’s interesting that the one man looking directly at us, said to be the artist, looks immune to the fire of the Holy Spirit. He is the only one unaffected. I wonder what his thoughts on God were? Did he feel he had not yet received the Holy Spirt.
Really good point! It seems like he may be looking out at the viewer’s reaction to his painting. Maybe he thought he was more concerned with what other people thought than the Holy Spirit?
Yes I’ve thought about it some more and maybe it was his humility to God, not to included himself receiving Holy Sprint with Mary and the Apostles. Thank you Amelia for the good discussion and a wonderful post. Looking forward to seeing more.
